Commercial premises have a responsibility to control legionella bacteria in water systems. This is where SCS Facilities Management can help – by providing a reliable and certified L8 water testing program to help you comply with your legal duties in relation to legionella. These include identifying and assessing sources of risk, preparing a scheme to prevent or control risk, implementing, managing and monitoring precautions, keeping records of precautions and appointing a manager to be responsible for others.

The Health & Safety law in this regard applies to premises controlled in connection with a trade, business or other undertaking where water is stored or used, and where there is a means of creating and transmitting breathable water droplets (aerosols), thus causing a reasonably foreseeable risk of exposure to legionella bacteria.
